STRENGTH FROM SILENCE – MEDITATION IN THE DESERT

Spiritual Journey in the Sahara: March 27–April 10, 2027, and April 10–24 2027

The Retreat – A Spiritual Journey

is inspired by the Sufi tradition. Six days of silence form the heart of this time away. Meditation in the desert gives us the space to reconnect with our own visions and inner sources. The vastness, the stillness and the infinite sky accompany and support us as we come truly close to ourselves.
At times, the desert also calls us into humility, asking us to let go completely – to release all our ideas, concepts and beliefs about who we are and what it means to be.
The journey into both outer and inner solitude allows us to come closer to the home that already exists within us – the place where the essence of our unique divine nature reveals itself.
Turning away from the world to discover whether we are truly living our lives can undoubtedly be painful. Yet when we consciously embrace solitude, when nothing else remains, a natural process of healing begins.

And then, suddenly, something rises up – like a force from the depths of the universe, beyond words …

Political Situation

Tunisia relies heavily on tourism as an important part of its economy.
Through my friend and her family, who live there, I have become very aware of how much potential there is in the country. Around half of the population is under 25, and many young people are well educated. The terrorist attacks that took place several years ago occurred in tourist centres in the northern coastal regions of the country. Our route is far away from the cities and takes us through more remote areas in the centre of the country. In 2015, four Tunisians representing the country’s National Dialogue Quartet were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for their contribution to supporting the country’s democratic transition. In our experience, the people we have met in Tunisia have been open, friendly and deeply welcoming.t. They are happy when we come to the desert to meditate and pray.
